Scores of flight cancellations from Hurricane Irene brought down the net profit by $15 million in the Delta Airlines getting together with US Airways Group Inc. in giving up off the airline industry’s tally of costs from the storm. The Tempe, Arizona-based airline in a U.S. regulatory filing earlier today aforesaid that Irene curtailed the operating financial gains at US airways by as much as $10 million.
Delta Airlines incorporated more than 2,200 flights while US Airways scampered about a 25% of its 9,100 scheduled departures from Aug. 27 through Aug. 29. Many other airlines also detailed the financial loss from the hurricane tomorrow at a Dahlman Rose & Co. transportation conference in New York. Irene also incorporated more than 11,200 flights as it jaunted to the last month to the East Coast. The visitors’ traffic at Delta Airlines and its regional carriers declined to 0.3% from the last year.
